Swing States Hit Hardest if Health Law Overturned

The Hill highlights new data showing that “Several key swing states would be hit especially hard if the Supreme Court strikes down President Obama’s healthcare reform law.”

“If the court throws out the entire law, about 22.4 million people who would have gotten access to insurance coverage will remain uninsured… Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan would each see more than 500,000 people lose access to Medicaid or subsidized private insurance… Neither benefit is in place yet, as the bulk of the Affordable Care Act does not take effect until 2014. No one would lose coverage they already have — rather, some would not gain coverage they were set to receive. “

What about those on ACA – originated state Bridge Plans?  Those plans may have been slow to catch on, but there’s now over  a million people nationwide now receiving insurance through them. They will be shut down immediately as they will be defunded if ACA is thrown out.

These plans cover people with some means (as in those who would not qualify for Medicaid) with pre-existing conditions. This is a fairly large population, many of whom are not disabled  in anyway but need continuing medical care. They are the ones denied coverage by private insurers. What about them?

Wait until folks find out that a vote for Romney is a vote to destroy Social Security and Medicare.      This isn’t funny.
