The Grand Bargain is Dead as Fiscal Cliff Talks Resume
Posted at 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2012
Less than a week remains before the “fiscal cliff” is set to take effect, and although many have noted that the tax impact will take effect at a gradual pace, lawmakers return to Washington, D.C. this week to find a solution to avoid negative market reactions and sharp spending reduction.
Wall Street Journal: “Even if lawmakers and the White House agree on a deal to avert the cliff, it seems increasingly possible that deal would delay into next year resolution of most of the thorny budget issues… The least likely track would involve a revival of the stalled talks between Messrs. Obama and Boehner for a ‘grand bargain’ to confront deficit reduction.”
