At Least One Health Insurance Exchange is Working
Posted at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2013
While the federal-run health insurance exchanges have experienced serious technical problems since they launched on October 1, Kaiser Health News looks at the success of Washington’s state-run exchange.
“About 25,000 Washington state residents have enrolled in health plans through the state’s online insurance exchange marketplace during its first two weeks. That figure is nearly triple the 9,500 residents who completed their enrollment during the first week that the exchange, called Washington Healthplanfinder, was open for enrollment.”
“An additional 37,000 people have completed applications to enroll in coverage but have not yet submitted their first payment, which is not due until December.”
